Helen Ochoa: “It’s Important To Teach Women Self-Love”

Helen Ochoa dropped her new single today called, Ahora Soy De El or Now I am His, and the song is about overcoming heartbreak and learning to have self-respect, self-love, something that a lot of people can relate to.

“Now more than ever we have to teach women to love and respect themselves,” said the Mexican-American singer to Billboard. “I want to write songs about women overcoming obstacles, or help them overcome something they’re going through with my lyrics.”

This isn’t the first time that she’s tackled on feminist issues. “In my first album, I talked about how different my career and/or love life would be if I was a boy,” Ochoa explains. “It’s no secret that I’m in a genre dominated by men, but that’s going to change soon. There’s so much female talent out there. In my new album, it’ll all be about overcoming those challenges.”
