One of the causes of tinnitus is the exposure to loud noise, which in his case could mean hours and hours on stage next to sound systems and music in elevated volumes. Prolonged exposure to loud noise can damage the small sensory hair cells in your ear that transmit sound to your brain. As you age, the number of functioning nerve fibers in your ear declines, causing hearing problems when you have this condition. In addition it can cause, fatigue, stress, depression, sleeping problems, trouble concentrating, and anxiety.
“It was something that began developing, after so many years on stage, the different levels of music that we’ve done over the past 30 years [and] it’s only normal that there would be some type of reaction from my body,” explains Luis Miguel, in an interview with Telenoche. “I had to walk away from the album, from my career and profession, but it was necessary, [it was] something that had to do with my personal life, but I’ve passed that stage and right now I just want to look forward to what’s next.”
El Sol de Mexico continues to cancel concerts like he did in Mexico City most recently, and there are even rumors of him retiring.
