The 10 Ways Red Wine Can Help your Health

Some people believe consuming one glass of red wine contributes to a healthy lifestyle, while others believe it is overrated. Although red wine helps the body, it also has a certain amount of alcohol; as we know, too much alcohol is not good.

Red wine has health benefits due to its high composition of antioxidants, which reduce the damage caused by oxidation in the body. It also helps fight some diseases.

Red wine consumption has been linked to a decreased risk of depression in the elderly and middle-aged. The risk of being depressed is reduced by drinking between two and seven glasses of red wine a week.

The drink would help prevent certain cardiovascular diseases and strengthen the immune system, provided it does not exceed two glasses a day.

1 Against Alzheimer’s disease. A study published in the English magazine “S Scientific Reports” demonstrates the effect of resveratrol, an antioxidant in the grape’s skin, on memory preservation. It would effectively treat memory disorders after age 60 and in patients with Alzheimer’s.

2 Preventing cardiovascular diseases. Using resveratrol could also help with cardiovascular problems. According to the World Health Organization, it would reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes by 40%. The anti-inflammatory properties of this antioxidant increase the diameter of blood vessels and thus facilitate blood circulation.

3 Reduce the risk of cancer. According to a report published in one of the American Association for Cancer Research journals, moderate consumption of red wine can reduce the risk of lung cancer in men. Each glass of red wine consumed per month would reduce the risk of lung cancer by 2% for a middle-aged man.

4 Extend life expectancy. According to a Dutch study, men who drink a glass of wine daily would have a life expectancy of 3.8 years higher than non-drinkers. They also have an 85% lower risk of dementia. Moderate consumption of red wine could prolong not only the lifespan of a person, but also the active age.
