According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 19 people from across 6 states have reported feeling sick, ages 5 to 84. The Shiga toxin-producing E.Coli can be life threatening, but no deaths have been reported. Even though, 5 people have been hospitalized, including two with kidney failure.
Symptoms of E.Coli
- Diarrhea
- Abdominal cramps
- Nausea and vomiting
- Low fever
Health officials urge anyone with these symptoms, especially those that have eaten Costco chicken salad, to visit their doctor immediately. They expect the number of people sickened by this outbreak to grow within the next few weeks, even though the product has been removed from the shelves.
