His father was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s 10 years ago and earlier this year he wrote a song to honor his father, called “Algo Le Pasa a Mi Héroe” (Something Is Happening to My Hero). The video and song shows an elderly man with Alzheimer’s. It shows what they go through and what the family that cares for that person has to go through when they are touched by this disease.
Victor Manuelle is a spokesperson for the campaign, “Ellos Olvidan, No Lo Hagas Tú” (They Forget, Don’t You Do It) for the Alzheimer’s Association and Related Disorders in Puerto Rico. Alzheimer’s is a disease of the brain that causes problems with memory, thinking and behavior. The number of Latinos with Alzheimer’s disease could increase 600% by 2050.
